Second Blog - Aztec Military

 Aztec Military.

The feeling of cold feet woke me up, I pulled my blanket down to try warm up my feet but it was too small, so I crawled out of bed. Then it came to me, Oh no! I forgot, I had to go to the military centre. The sun had just risen, the boat leaved after the sun was set in the sky. I'm so bummed that they don't have alarm clocks here! I popped on my crocs and ran outside the hut. Down the broken road, I made it just in time! The ride to the Aztec military was magical, one thing that intrigued me the most was a group of Aztecs surrounding each other, then I realized what they were doing, a sacrifice! My glee turned into a traumatized emotion and I quickly turned away. We had finally arrived...

I noticed different types of training groups, the favourite one I saw was a commoner group divided into four. They were called the Calpulli and they were lead by the nobles. They had to be recruited to be in the team. They had about 200-800 warriors in each group. Apparently they would get trained at the age of five and go to war the the age of 15! They didn't even get a choice, gosh!

Before I left back to the boat I had to go check out the weapons, I started to talk to a weapon maker who told me that there were many weapons, but not ones that would kill an enemy. Instead they would knock them out and keep them as slaves or prisoners. In the world nowadays we have guns, drones and bombs, which in my opinion seem much more efficient at getting rid of your enemy. I was so intrigued that I quickly asked if they took children as slaves, he replied that they set the children free to live their own lives but an Aztec parent could send their own children into slavery. Then he started to cry, I asked whats wrong. He told me that his parents send his brother into slavery because he wasn't strong enough to become a warrior. I really felt like comforting him but the boat was about to leave. I gave my thanks and off I went back to my hut.
