Blog Three - The calendar
The Aztec Mayan calendar
I woke up on a bright summer morning, I needed a rest from yesterday. I had a great walk down to the Aztec village were I saw a sacrifice! A little bit more bearable this time! I noticed a shining stone in the distance, I had read all about this, its a Mayan calendar! They used this stone to tell the time, its formed on a 260 day cycle instead of 365.
This is a recorded conversation I had with a villager;
Me: Hey I was wondering how the calendar worked?
Commoner: Well, it's broken up into units and has twenty days on a stone, each day has a symbol.
Me: Well then, how can you tell what day it is?
Commoner: To tell the day, you put the number with the symbol, there is a small circle in the stone which has numbers and you match the symbol up with the number to get you day. The calendar gets move every day. All together it adds up to 260 days in a year.
Nowadays a year takes up 365 days!
