Aztec blog - last day

Image
Last day: Wow, what a journey. I had so much fun but I know I don't belong here, so I must leave. I had been dreaming about his ever since I was a kid and for it to come true is just incredible. I learnt so much about the Aztec life and I am so thankful that I got this opportunity. I'm currently on the time travel plane eating a pack of crisps! This picture I took reminds me of what is important in life and this was my favourite! Aztec education - Day five

Image
Aztec education. I was so excited for today, I got to see the education of the Aztec's. I slipped on my favourite outfit to blend in, and jogged to the nearest school. When the Aztec's were young they got taught by their parent's, but when they reached the age of twelve they went to a school depending on what they wanted to learn. They could learn to become leaders, priest, teachers, healers, painters etc. As I walked through the door I saw the girl I had given my meal to. That must mean that all nobles, commoners and slaves would all go to school together. She immediately saw me and was very thankful and so she decided to give me a tour. The girl's and boy's were separated, but I decided to go to an all girl's school, because I had already seen many boy's and what they did on my journey.  Their classes were mainly based on household chores, but they did learn religious rituals, singing, dancing, cooking and craft work, which doesn't seem very fair to me...

Blog Three - The calendar

Image
The Aztec Mayan calendar I woke up on a bright summer morning, I needed a rest from yesterday. I had a great walk down to the Aztec village were I saw a sacrifice! A little bit more bearable this time! I noticed a shining stone in the distance, I had read all about this, its a Mayan calendar! They used this stone to tell the time, its formed on a 260 day cycle instead of 365.  This is a recorded conversation I had with a villager; Me: Hey I was wondering how the calendar worked? Commoner: Well, it's broken up into units and has twenty days on a stone, each day has a symbol. Me: Well then, how can you tell what day it is? Commoner: To tell the day, you put the number with the symbol, there is a small circle in the stone which has numbers and you match the symbol up with the number to get you day. The calendar gets move every day. All together it adds up to 260 days in a year.  Nowadays a year takes up 365 days!  If your interested in the Aztec life follow along my blog to ...

Second Blog - Aztec Military

Image
Aztec Military. The feeling of cold feet woke me up, I pulled my blanket down to try warm up my feet but it was too small, so I crawled out of bed. Then it came to me, Oh no! I forgot, I had to go to the military centre. The sun had just risen, the boat leaved after the sun was set in the sky. I'm so bummed that they don't have alarm clocks here! I popped on my crocs and ran outside the hut. Down the broken road, I made it just in time! The ride to the Aztec military was magical, one thing that intrigued me the most was a group of Aztecs surrounding each other, then I realized what they were doing, a sacrifice! My glee turned into a traumatized emotion and I quickly turned away. We had finally arrived...  I noticed different types of training groups, the favourite one I saw was a commoner group divided into four. They were called the Calpulli and they were lead by the nobles. They had to be recruited to be in the team. They had about 200-800 warriors in each group. Apparently...

First Blog - Aztec food

Image
Aztec Food. Wow, what a sight! The food was delicious, one thing that caught my eye was the walk down to the markets, because I got to watch the traders on their boats. I decided to go to the markets because it was something that was at the top of my list for a long time. As I arrived I immediately saw what I wanted to get. I went for the beans and tomato, a popular pick. I noticed that the word avocado (ahuacatl )  and tomato (xitomatl )  in Aztec language was spelled similar to English. The food was exceptionally good but it was particularly spicy! I payed 20 cacao seeds. I sat down next to a beautiful apple tree, and met a young girl who asked for my food, I was full anyway, so I happily gave her the rest. She clearly was in need, I could tell by her clothes since she didn't have a lot on. I heard that the more clothes you have on the higher class you are. If your interested in my blogs go check out the other ones! ↖ Next to the food stall was this beautiful picture and I h...
